just wondering
Hey! wuts up? I saw you guys in Dance Spirit Magazine a few months ago and was so excited to have the chance to try out for a team that was in Dance Spirit! I just wanted to know if most the girls join their freshman year? Also, do you guys take separate classes at a studio near FIU because I wanted to do that but I don't know that area so well so I don't know if there are dance studios for college aged students. I love dance but I dont know if the team is for me....but I don't want to loose touch of dance just because I'm not on a team, you get me? So if you could give me some studio names or any other advice thatd be cool!!! Gracias! ~M.Lo |

Hi and thanks for your interest on the team. It is highly recommended that you audition your freshman year so that you take the most advantage of everything. We do not use any studios. We have technique classes once a week on Fridays in addition to out rehearsals twice a week as well. Being on a "dance team" takes getting used to if you are used to being on your own in a studio setting. College is different then everything you have ever done and it is wonderful! |

Hey! thanks for writing back! So you have practice 2 times a week, then class on friday. Well how long are the practices? How do you make it work since all the girls probably have different class schedules and may not be able to meet at the same times? I dont know if this is too much to ask when Im not even on the team yet, but do you all purchase your own costumes? Im just trying to learn how a college dance team is because I know its got to be so different, and better, from high school. I cant wait!! ~M.Lo

No prob. The way it works is, noone registers for classes during practice times. We practice Monday and wednesday night 6-9pm and friday 9:30am-12:30pm. If a class overlaps its ok but you are responsible for anything that you missed. In the fall, friday practices are not every week but rather every other week. You do not pay for anything out of pocket because we have a school given budget. |
