tryout question
I was wondering the specifics of tryouts. What are the turns and jumps mandatory for auditions?? See I dance but have not danced professionally in a while so my technique is not great in fact i probably forgot half of the things i have learned in the past. But, i do pick up fast, would it be a complete waste of time for me to tryout?? I would love to be a part of the squad but am a bit intimidated. Please advise. Thanks ladies, Ari |

Hi there! Well I am glad you wrote to us. Do not be intimidated at all! one of the great reasons to audition in April is that we look for potential rather then just advanced dancers. Yes, we do a lot of technique but girls that come in through the April auditions have all summer of intense rehearsals where all you do is go through your technique and more! thank you sooooo much for your quick response. I also wanted to ask: I know the next class is april 20th but i have class at north campus from 3:30 to 9:05 and we have review for finals those days so i do not want to miss. Now, how important is the class because i do want to audition, are they essential for auditions??? On the website does it show the requirements for the audtions, in reference to turns?? I would like to practice on my own so i dont look like a complete fool..  ...hahahaha....I am really excited and cant wait to tryout, at least for fun right??  .

The Wednesday clinic is NOT mandatory. It is just a sample for those that can make it to get a feel for who we are and take a sample class of a dance that we would typically do. It's not a problem if you cannot make it. Regarding the turns, we will ask to see some technique in the finals stage. In prelimns you will learn a dance and perform that in order to advance to finals. In finals, we will have you do that same dance or your own routine if you wish to bring one and then we will ask to see technique. Good luck! Remember to bring your confidence and smile!!!! |
