Trying out to be a Golden Dazzler
Hey! I'm Shayna and I'm from Boston, Mass. I'm in High School right now and I'm looking at colleges online just to get the scoop on different dance teams. Dance is HUGE in my life because I have been doing it since I was 2 ad my mother owns a dance studio. This past summer I was a Dance Olympus V.I.P and travled to 5 states. I was wondering about how much of the dancing you learned while you were on the team and how good the dancers were before they made the team. I can do all of the requirements for tryouts but I don't have a quadruple turn or anything,  only a triple. I have been cheerleading on my Varsity squad for 3 seasons now. - What advice can you give me for tryouts? - Should I get my quadruple turn? - Do you think it is VERY difficult to make the team? Shayna--- Howdy howdy! Hi Shayna, my name is Elyse and i am one of the co-captains for the team and I just wanted to say thanks for showing interest in our team, and from what it sounds like you have what it takes to audition to be a DAZZLER! Thanks Elyse! I have another question. Do you try out to be a Golden Dazzler before you actually go to FIU, because if I try out and I don't make it it will be horrible if I'm in college and not being able to live my dream of dancing at all. Hi there: Auditions are open now and should you make it to finals,and then on the team, noone is "officially" on the team UNTIL they are accepted into the school. Anyone in high school that is planning to attend FIU and has applied is welcome to audition already. |

I love the Golden Dazzlers and I would love to be one someday. I'm worried about getting accepted. I live in massachussetts so I don't know about the school that much. Does anyone know around what gpa they might be looking for? |

Hi Shayna: You have to keep a 2.0 in order to keep your team status. Most of the girls have much higher gpas's though. B |

I was wondering if the Golden Dazzlers did competitions and which ones they do, and if they have ever been on ESPN or anything like that. - Is there anyway I could get a video tape of the Golden Dazzlers performing sent to me or anything like that? |

We do not mail out video performances. Sorry. The Dazzlers compete for the Chi-fil-A NDA Cheer and Dance Championships in Daytona Florida which are televised on CBS Sports. You can check www.nationalspirit.com for the listings later on around April. |

Hi I was wondering, can someone take the audition classes if they can't audition this year and still are in high school? I would love to try out a session of audition classes. |

Hey I want to know more about the team, like the different competitions they do. What division are they? I haven't seen the golden dazzlers on ESPN or the UDA comps... ??? |

That's because we compete with NDA which is televised on CBS Sports and Fox Sports. We are Division 1 and might possibly move to Division 1A in 2 more years but it's not official yet. Their competition was televised this past Tuesday on Fox! They placed 8th out of 22 squads for prelimns. Only the top 12 go to finals. Once at finals, due to prop malfunction and a couple of dropped turns we got bumped to 12th for deductions! See pictures from the trip on our website www.fiugoldendazzlers.com they went up a couple of days ago! 8th is a really good finish for their 3rd time at competition.
