Message:   The exact same thing happens in English. Think about a simple word like "wine" and the many variations on the "i" sound from New Orleans to Cajun Country to Shreveport.

Lejeune is often pronounced as Lejern because non-francophones hear the French "eu" sound with a slight "r", so to approximate, they add to their pronunciation of the name.

One of my personal pet peeves is the inversion of letters in a certain quarterback's name. Really, is it *that* hard to say FAVRE and not Farve ?!?!?!
