Message:   Houma was under a mandatory evacuation so Roy might have left. A mandatory evacuation doesn't mean they force you from your house. It means you are warned that the parish is not setting up shelters and may not be conducting search and rescue until the wind dies down. I don't his parish, Terrebonne, is letting citizens return for at least a couple more days.

Grand Isle was underwater waist-high.

The Daily Advertiser (Lafayette newspaper) had pictures of high water in New Iberia and Abbeville. I read that 5-8 inches of rain fell on New Iberia this afternoon. We'll just have to wait for more reports. Sounds like New Iberia was on the bad side of the storm and Abbeville was on the better side. Opelousas was on the bad side, Mamou and L'Anse Grise on the better side.

Lafayette had some power lines down and some buildings damaged near UL-L and the northside. I haven't heard anything yet about the southside where my sister lives. Maybe she knows from neighbors how they made out.
