Message:   I think we've about worn out the various uses of fleuve and riviere. The important thing is that on hearing either one, we have a grasp of to what it refers.

How about a discussion on why the American alligator is: caïmon in Lafourche, cocodrile in Acadiana and alligator in France, or cabrie versus chèvre for goat?

I am a volunteer tour guide at the Burden Rural Life Museum in BR and have had to learn a whole lot of new names for animals to replace the Cajun ones I learn from my parents for animals, plants and tools to accomodate French and Canadian visitors.
