Apostille Certificates
Many have question about how to auhtenticate a document for use out of the United States. Well, it depends really on what type of document it is and if the country is signer of the Hague Convention. (A link to member states is provided on the web site). Documents that can carry an Apostille Certificate applies only to Public Documents issued by a court or tribunal of the state such as: birth , marriage and death certificates; extracts from commercial registers and other registers; patents; court rulings; notarial acts and notarial attestations of signatures; academic diplomas issued by public institutionsonly. A document bearing an Apostille Certificate is valid in all of the Hague countries, however it is found that many times it needs to be translated still to be understood by the requesting party. |
