and the battle rages on....
okay - so was doing pretty good last weekend with the smoking thingy - til friday happy hour that is..always smoked da light cigarettes, but gone a fierce jonesing on. So off to get a pack of the marlboro reds. smoked nearly the whole **** pack. determined to not let the slip turn into a fall...i broke the last four cigarettes and tossed them in the ash try and went to bed. Saturday rolled around and **** if I didn't piece all of the m together and smoke them! Treacherous habit. By midday, after enjoying the peiced together trash sticks with several cups of joe, I ran out. So what do you think I did. I STOPPED AGAIN! woohoo...still plugging away - determined to stop completely, but I am not going to fall into old habits of slipping up and picking up the old habits. So how is it going for all of you...keep at it and tell me your secrets. oh - nad by the way - been eating real good and it feels oh so good. |

Its amazing how we say "No" to veggies we don't like and how we can avoid going places we don't like, but man when it comes to things like cigarettes, our brains just won't say "no." I've known people thru the yrs that just quit cold turkey. Woke up one day after smoking for 30 yrs and quit just like that. The one thing you have to remember is we all crave something. We all have bad habits. Yours might be smoking, but trust me the guy in the car next to you have some bad habit too. Probably more than one. And I can guarantee you he/she wishes they could quit. So forgive yourself, but just don't forget. I am not sure if this helps, but maybe instead of quitting cold turkey, try gradually cutting back over a course of say a month. Maybe 6 months if you need too. Make it simple like....okay when I go out tonight I am only going to bring "x" amount of cigarettes with me and not going to bum. You'll think about lighting up more and considering if you want to save it for later. Stop buying cigs in cartons. At 10pm on Tuesday when its freezing outside and you have 1 cigarette left you might think twice about saving it or not since you will have to set out in bad weather to get a pack. Just a few little things. Works for some and others may not. I'm not perfect either, but for me setting smaller more realistic goals seems to work.

Smoking is a real hard habit to break. (((Ray & others)))..... I've heard that Chantix works real well but its a little expensive. It takes away the desire to smoke. Don't beat yourself up too bad over your fall....cut back if you have to then stop when you are ready. No one is perfect, just look around you at all the obese people...they have to eat a hell of a lot of food to get that fat. |
