How was your Memorial Day Weekend?

It was nice here in Memphis, but you can tell summer is just about here. The humidity is rising which makes for some thunderstorms (Tammy....some coming your way later today). Still it was nice planting some Snapdragons, Mexican Heather, and Vinna's then not having to water.
Had pork chops marinated in Eaton's Papaya Chutney. It was soooo good. Next time you at the HiLo pick up a jar of this stuff. You won't regret it.

Will be happy when May if officially over. Still kinda down we could not make our annual trip this yr. Husb working, but no vacation for awhile. It could be worse. I know we are luckier than some.
Gotta keep on truckin. Have a great short week boardies.

Re: How was your Memorial Day Weekend?

Let it storm let it storm I'll be sleeping.

No Holiday here for me. Worked 17.5 hours Saturday and 13 Sunday which ended yesterday morning at 7 am. Went straight to bed and slept till 6 last night. Missed everything. That is OK though because my schedule falls very good this year. I'm off 4th of July, I'm off Thanksgiving, I'm off Christmas, I'm off New Years Day, I'm good and can celebrate a lot more in 2008.

Yes CC things are bad bad right now but they will get better. Then the party is on. I don't plan on missing Oldtimer this Feb. 09 in Jamaica and he better not let me down. I am determined to be there and I know I will be somehow. Probably should be studying buying that ticket now but hell who knows if the airline you purchase from will still be in business. USAir is the only one I would trust to still be going strong at this point. Maybe you should change your yearly trip to Feb.??? Lots of us there that time of year and you would feel good having a plan in motion. What you think? Feb. in Jamaica is wonderful. Weather is perfect. I have been in every month and I tell you Feb. is the best. ????????? what ya think?

Re: How was your Memorial Day Weekend?

Tammy,
You know my husb has mentioned going in the winter to me before. We just have been on May kick cause its our anniversary. I will have to consider it. Not sure I can make it until next May.
Thanks for the invite.
I wouldn't wait too long to purch your airline ticket, but give it a little time. I know its all up in the air so to speak w/ gas prices, but you might find a good deal in the fall for Feb. I know in the past NWA would start having specials during Oct/Nov for after X-Mas flights. Then you would not see anything for March (spring break) and the deals would start back up for April-May (Memorial Day).
Might still work that way.

Re: How was your Memorial Day Weekend?

was the BEST memorial day weekend!...spent sat and sunday in the gardens all day. pulling out old stuff, thinning, moving things around, new flowers...spent the evenings enjoying the cool weather and driking the yuengling with the radio on and a few friends...

monday - went to the most awesome brazilian barbecue house (Fogo de Chao) all you could eat - $30 for lunch...the waiters running around with skewers they serve from right onto the dish...south american sausage, pork tenderloins, filet mingon wrapped in bacon, wine marianted barbecued chicken and more...and a wonerful buffet to boot....(by the way - this place is a chain - they have something like fifteen locations across the country - look for one near you - i highly recomend it)

best weather I can remember in years - 70's in the day and sixties at night. Was one holiday weknd to remember for sure.

Ray,
They have the same thing here called Texas De Brazil. Never been though. Always thought there is no way I could eat that much meat. Lots of people rave about though.

I did some cooking! Chicken w/ balsamic vinegar, and for breakfast, cheese blintzes with blackberry/pear/apple compote. Stayed overnight at a friend's house, helping her de-stress the divorce woes. She lives in the country and I really enjoy the location and her house. Enjoyed some dog vibes while I was there too!

Re: How was your Memorial Day Weekend?

My weekend was GREAT, first on friday Abby and crew came down for Carb day at the track and even though it rained we all had real good time.
The on Saturday the 24th, my Mom turned 94. I baked her a homemade banana cream pie and all of the residents at her nursing home sang Happy Birthday as we cut the pie.

Then on Sunday was the Indy500, my 39th in a row.
This is one of my best friends Matt doing the Harpo Marx routine

And then the day after the race they do the victory pictures and I was able to get a few more shots,,

Re: How was your Memorial Day Weekend?

i hear you cc...is a lot of meat. a good steak will run you almost twenty dollars these days. I take small portions of everything and you really do get your money's worth. The meat comes out and if you want well done, they cut if off the top...medium - a little further down - rare - you can get that too...if the meat they bring doesn ot have it hte way you like it - they go get more. Well worth it and it is nice to get that kind of service.

loved the pics indy bob...good that mom had a good day.

lola- alwyays taking care of someone...gotta love that!!! i am a dog guy too.

nice to hear everyone had a good weekend! hope this weekend is equally good for you all.
