New to Sulphur Mustangs
Hi. My name is Matthew. I am the deaf BLM volunteer for Eastern States Wild Horse and Burro Program. I live in Long Island, New York. I like Wild Horses and Wild Mustangs. I don’t have the horse. I will have a Wild Mustang Horse one day. I will be The Mustang Horse Breeder one day. I will live in Wyoming one day. I will raise and breed my favorite breeds: American Mustangs, Kiger Mustangs, Sulphur Mustangs, Spanish Mustangs, Sorraia Mustangs,Pryor Mountain Mustangs, Nokota Horses, and Chincoteague Ponies. My mom and I will go to Utah to watch the roundup of the wild Sulphur Horses in September. Is it ok to watch the roundup? Matthew |

Hi Matthew, I spoke with you a long time ago about my Pryor stallion Gros Ventre (Grey Bear as Ginger Kathrens calls him) he is the brother to Cloud, I'm sure you remember.... The BLM will let you watch the round up as long as there aren’t any problems and you don't get in the way of the round up procedure. It is very interesting and I think all round ups need to be watched by the general public so that more people can see how its done. Good luck in your future goals and I hope you are able to achieve all of them, that would be fantastic.

mustangroberta, When I was at the CastleDale Utah adoption, BLM from Fillmore and Price Utah told me that the next Sulphur gather/adoption would be late in the fall of 2008 or sometime after foaling in 2009, if they can get the funding ? We were advised to get our corrals built & BLM approved, just in case I see a fantastic Sulphur we can't pass up... |

Hi Matthew, Yes you would be more than welcome to come and visit my ranch anytime, just let me know when so I can make sure I will be here. As far as the Sulphur Round-up there are no regulations stopping anyone from going out onto the HMA and watching the round-up and as far as taking your pets, that’s fine too. There have never been any problems with anyone bringing pets out to the HMA or to any round-up. The only problem at the last round-up was with the contractor not being careful enough with the horses, they lost three horses at the last round-up but that was before my husband and I got out there. I saw the last one that died but it was already in the holding pens at the Davis ranch. So be careful not to believe a lot of things you might hear about what has gone on out at the round-ups, there has not been anyone but BLM personnel and the contractors at any of the round-ups that I have been to so if you want to know the truth about how the round-ups are you should ask people that have really been there. I’d be happy to tell you about our experiences and show you our pictures if you can make it here to my ranch Welcome to the board and I look forward to seeing you here or at one of the Sulphur Round-ups. I am so happy to see new enthusiasts join in to help out with the horses!!

Thanks Matthew, that is very nice of you to let us all know. I figured that they wouldn't gather them until next year because they only gather them every three years and the last gather was in 2006 so 2009 should be the next year they gather. Maybe you guys can come here then. You can still come and visit and I will take you out to see the horses if you want. Talk to you soon, Naylene |
