Re: Bad news for wild horses

Of course I wrote a feed back letter... The Feds want to kill off the Nevada Horses, but if they get away with that, then no one knows which herd will be next! The BLM said they wanted to get rid of old horses.

Q=Are old mustangs more wild cuz they have lived out longer or are they less wild? And how old is too old to be adopted?

I am sure that I will be writting them more feedback. Please, people, if you decide to send the BLM feedback letters, be nice. Dont swear or yell at them, or they will probably take away that page.

Here are my suggestions:
#1- I would think that with all of the zillion acres of land the BLM has, that you guys don't have hay growing that you can harvest? What a perfect place to try out new growing ideas, to find a hardy seed to plant! When there is a wild fire, the USFS, replants, via seed drop from the air or by having volunteer groups go in and hand plant.

#2-HORSE BIRTH CONTROL. STOP letting horses get in PG while they are in the BLM holding corrals.

#3-When gathering horses, spay and nueter, all of the not so perfect ones. A person just getting into the world of mustangs, would rather adopt a horse that they didnt have to worry about it getting PG or jumping a fence to get a mare PG. ONE exception = if you see an exceptional stallion or mare, keep them pure and then return them to the HMA. A trained eye can tell, which horses to spay and nueter.
