Silver
I had a wonderful heart-felt moment of joy today, riding up the road through our ranch, past the big pasture where the other horses were turned out, including 3 of Santiago's get (Isabella b. 2006, Silver and Conquistador b. 2007). All the babies got excited, of course, when I rode my mare up the road (ponying another Santiago filly, 4-year-old Dulcinea), and the pasture horses were racing up and down the fence, talking to the horse I was riding and the one I was leading. Then my yearling filly, Silver, gave me the heart-stopping moment. She changed gaits into a perfect Passage! The elevation of her legs was breathtaking, and the duration of time in which she held motionless in mid-air, like a frozen equestrian statue, was thrilling. She held the gait for the entire length of the pasture (several hundred yards), and she looked ready to compete in Olympic-level dressage. She was perfect. So, years of prayers, investment, and belief in these bloodlines, are paying off. I've got a multi-gaited Spanish Horse in that little filly. Now, we just need to train her to do those gaits on cue. Piece of cake! Since she's got it in her genes. signed: Happy Godmother |

CONGRATS! I was just talking to another long time Sulphur Breeder over the weekend and he said the first thing he always looks at in a Sulphur is the gait and how nearly all of them are breathtaking! I had to agree at just how universal great movers all these Sulphurs are. So congrats on such a fine bunch of youngsters and here is to all of us being able to make the most of this treasure! Duane |
