Hi . . .

I've recently been struggling with my gender identity--since I was very young I have always imagined that my clitoris is a penis and have wanted a flat chest since I developed breasts. I am attracted to all genders, but during sex I like to be in the "masculine" role regardless of who I'm with and rarely enjoy being penetrated. Lately, I fantasize all the time about being male.

The problem is that I am a very small person (only 5'1" and 115lbs) and extremely feminine--and nor do I desire to be butch. I love high heels and makeup and short femme-y haircuts. (Though I do also love it when I wear a tie and no makeup and get mistaken for a boy at first glance.)

If I were to transition, I'm not sure I could pass, and I wonder, since I am so femme, am I really transgendered? Binaries are so confusing! And how would I fit into the FTM community?

Cary, you should really think about transitoining. It mat not e what you want to do. It is okay to be a femme FTM, but you really have to think about what you wan. If you enjoy being femme at times then it may be difficult for you when becoming more mascline. I will tell you that you may be small and femmy, but once you get on T you will become masculine. My best frined is 5'1" and kinda cutsy looking, but T WILL take effect. The reason we transition is to match who were are inside to the outside. And if inside you really aren't 100% male or you don't want to be male ALL the time, you may want to think twice. It is all up to you and whatever decision you make it is really about being happy. Personally, for me, there was NO question. It realy wasn't a transitoin for me because I have been passing since I was 5! And ALWAYS lived as male. So when I got old enough I got on T, but I was always male. Whether you are masculine or feminie if you feel you are MALE (not the characteristic of being masc or fem) then you are, whether you get on T or not. Even if I wasn't on T I would still be a male. T helps others to see it as well. Sorry for this being so long. I just want everyone to know that no matter what we decide to do with it we are male if we fell it. Make sure you really feel it, not just have a desire. Hope everything works out, Cary. Good luck.

I can relate to the struggle that you are going through. Although, I'm a stone butch...I'm also very small. I have heard of femmes who do enjoy "playing the man in bed". Dominate Femmes, I believe is the term. I don't know if that helps. Good luck.
