Working Out for Strength and Muscle
Hey guys, So I'm finally gonna stop being lazy and start working out. My goal is to build strength and muscle mass. Is there a particular cycle I should go along with my T shots?? I take 1 CC every 10 days. And I joined a gym with a personal trainer. He does not know I am Trans or that I take T, but I want to know if any guys have any experience. Let me know if any feedback. Thanks

Re: Working Out for Strength and Muscle
not sure what your skill level is but there is a message group on yahoo called ftmfit and its just guys talking about how they work out. I'm a memeber but alot of the discussions are over my head. I go to the gym 3 to 4 times a week and just do cardio and machine weights, I would love to find a program with free weights that isn't to advanced since my level isn't there yet. hopes this helps somewhat...

Re: Working Out for Strength and Muscle
I'm in the same position. Doc says I need to gain weight, but I don't want to go to the gym alone. And does anyone know about proper workout atire for ftms? I don't want to wear my binder while working out, but I also don't want people staring. Or so it feels that way. My boyfriend says I'm nuts, and that you can't tell I have anything.

Re: Working Out for Strength and Muscle
I used to lift 4 times a week, but that was before T. I'm asking because I used to know some bio guys that took T illegally as a muscle enhancer. And I wasn't sure if I should work it T into a cycle for working out. I'm not gonna tell my trainer I'm trans, but maybe I'll tell him I take T for some other reason.
Kyle, as far as "attire" goes... just wear what you feel comfortable in. The Underworks binders are really great for activities. I used to wear one before I had my top done. They fit and breathe well. If you don't have one you should get one. I got my first one from Nick on the Big Brother Binder page. But then when I could afford it I bought two more from the site. When I got my Top done I gave them to my friend who can't afford top or binders.

Re: Working Out for Strength and Muscle
I really do not hink that here is a particular workout regime for guys on T. Just lake any other workout, don't over do it. Take it easy and keep yourself to a strict schedule and diet.
Jim Good luck man!

Re: Working Out for Strength and Muscle
Thanks for the replies, guys. I've been on a pretty strict diet for the last couple weeks. I'm sure I'll keep it up. I'll let everyone know how it goes. Let me know if anyone else has had any good results. I wish I could get some advice from Mark or Ryan (from gallery) those guys look awesome!

Re: Working Out for Strength and Muscle
You know, I'm an athlete and can help out a little here. As far as working out in a binder there is a very real risk of limiting airflow- not safe. So do what you can to loosen things up, or go without. maybe a spandex shirt or something?
As far as bulking up, it is very easy. The important thing is that you stretch a lot. Yoga is great. keep those new sexy muscles loose or you will pay for it in joint pain later. And cardio is really good in countering that new appetite, increased heart disease risk, etc..
most important, if it feels good, good. If not, listen to your body as you grow' rest and nutrition go as far as a workout in keeping you strong and healthy. Feel free to contact me for some easy tips.

Re: Working Out for Strength and Muscle
JP,
Hey, the trick to burning fat is to switch things up. Your body can get in a rut. Adjust some of your diet to smaller portions, add a few veggies, and focus on cardio and light lifting to burn burn burn. Heavy lifting is great but it builds mass and appetite.
This is what I have to do. I have always been a power house and trimming down is hard, but these things really work for me. The other thing is to make sure you eat right after a workout- some carbs and protien to feed those muscles will keep you from feeling like you are starving later...
have fun!
