Anyone out there have experience with Bioidentical Plant hormones?

Hey guys! I've finally been given the go-ahead based on my RLT by a psychologist to write a letter to my GP to start me on T! *Insanely excited* However, being of the anti-globalist stripe, part of what put me off on going in for my approval for so long was the fact that I don't want to be tied into supporting some multi-national drug company for the rest of my life if I can help it. I came across an article on butch-femme forums talking about a new type of testosterone that some herbalists can apparently compound from wild yams. However, my concern is that this sounds an aweful lot like something that a) might not work as well as other options and b) could be derived from GMOs. Anyone know any more about them then I'm finding out, it'd be great if you could get a hold of me either via email or MSN.

Thanks alot guys.

Re: Anyone out there have experience with Bioidentical Plant hormones?

Before I finally turned to t injections, I tried usinf bioidentical hormones for awhile, and then even tried Androgel. While my preference would still be to use a plant derivative or other compound that would be similar to what my body would actually produce, I have to say that I didnlt get the results I was hoping for until I started the testosterone injections - facial hair, voice change, etc. Other trans men may have had a different experience, but for me I am going to stay with the testosterone injections.

Good luck on whatever you choose.

As a horticulture nerd, this is what I know. Bio identical plant hormones are very limited in their capacity to replace your natural hormones. And being unregulated compounds, you could be playing with fire. If that's the route you want to go, try getting a doc to watch over your blood levels for you. Be safe.

If you are interested in a gentler transition, a hysterectomy can be less tedious and will change your natural hormone balance away from estrogen. see a doc though, because it will also mean instant early menopause.
