A friend told me that when she had a hip replacement and needed to walk with crutches that it was difficult to walk and hold a mug of tea at the same time. The solution was to fold cling wrap over the mug to prevent the liquid spilling. It works! Email: suebuttie@hotmail.com

One solution, when access is not good, is to use an Oasis Bedbath. These are large microwaveable wet wipes. They are a good size and can be used straight from the pack or better still, warmed in a microwave first. Either way they give a very effective wash. In memory of Adam Wright

This discussion board has been set up in memory of Adam Wright and his tireless efforts at promoting debate and discussion on all aspects of Independent Living. Adam was a committed trustee of Dialability for nine years; he believed in its ethos of empowerment and choice. He was also employed for some years as a community worker for Phab, mainly visiting schools to teach children about alternative communication and to look at the physical barriers to inclusion on the school site. Adam used a Lightwriter and loved to talk, he was a great conversationalist with a lively sense of humour. He was never dull, he always said what he thought and refused all hypocrisy. Adam appreciated the ease of communication on the internet; when he first started to use it he likened it to a buzzing swarm of bees in a small community. He would have liked this site too and would have enjoyed using it.
