In response to the emails I received I thought i would clarify a couple of points.
I was of course referring to the kids when I said it wouldn't hurt them to stand and wait for the bus and I do feel that they have spoilt it for everybody else with a genuine need to use the bench.
As I have been picking up the beer cans and rubbish in the alley (as has the lady at 74) a number of residents have chatted to me and supported the removal f the bench however a lot of these are elderly and do not want to get involved.
I certainly dont want to spoil the kids fun but I dont think it is acceptable for the kids to sit and drink alcohol all night and for some of them to then ride off on their scooters. There is a great skate park for them to play in and a village hall where events could be organised to keep them amused. If anybody has any ideas i'd be more than happy to help organise it. |
