I feel the bench should be replaced immediately, my 3 year old daughter took a nasty fall over the bolts that were left behind when the bench was removed and should this have been a OAP I'm sure the outcome would have been much worse and costly. Since I spoke to Mr Ted Barnes chairman of the parish council, white blocks have been placed round the bolts, which is not a lot better.
Apparently the bench was origanlly removed because some teenagers were causing a noise and nuisance and residence and the police requested its removal. I hear the police have been spoken to and they in fact wanted the bench left and the bush behind removed.
If the youngsters were in fact causing such a problem and vandalising the bin as Mr Barnes told me, how come there is no evedence of this anywhere, no writing on the bench or fences, no dents or scribling on the bin etc.
There are many OAP's in our village that used the bench on a regular basis whether it being a half way point to the shops or while waiting for the bus into town, so please replace it today!!
There is a Parish Council Assembly on Wednesday 25th April 2007 where myself and others will be putting over our views and requesting the bench be replaced immediately. If you would like to join us, we would love to see you. |
