Portions of my unit, the 3rd AAA AW BN (SP), were attached to the 65th several times during the Korean War (fall of 1950 to Dec 1951) while was a member. I remember one incident a Company of 65th Inf were pinned down by heavy enemy fire, I think it was the summer of 51, and one of our M-19 tanks with twin 40MM guns and one halftrack with four 50 Cal machine guns went in and laid down heavy automatic automatic fire while the 65th withdrew. This was the first and the last time I have ever been crushed in a bear hug and kissed on the cheek by a man. Those guys were glad to see us and we were glad to be of help.
