Recently had the opportunity to view the PBS documentary of The Borinqueneers. I never knew of the Borinqueneers. My father served with the 65th Infantry HQ 2nd Bn 1951-53. He volunteered in NY. He never spoke of his time in Korea. But I do remember him saying Korean Vets were the "forgotten ones."
Unfortunately, my Dad passed away Dec. 2007 before I viewed the documentary. I am very interested in learning anything of my Dad during his time of service.
After watching the documentary I can understand his pride of being an American citizen and his disgust when the American flag was desecrated by other Americans and non Americans.
