Old Soldiers Never Die – his motto was always duty and country, he was loyal, he had personal courage and his integrity above reproach. He has only faded. Dad hasn’t died – he will always live in me. Yo, la hija mayor
Old soldiers never die,
Never die, never die,
Old soldiers never die
They just fade away.
Note: This song achieved instant recognition when Douglas MacArthur quoted it in his farewell speech. MacArthur's career came to a close during the Korean War, but as recognition of his status as one of the nation's greatest living military leaders, Congress asked him to address a joint session. MacArthur closed his speech with a famous line from an old army ballad: "Old soldiers never die, they just fade away." |
