To Von Howze – I’m glad you liked the site and I hope that your father likes it too. The Native American, African American, and Hispanics, have always done their share in preserving and creating the American dream, unfortunately Hollywood has not been too kind to us (God Bless The Internet). The name “Borinqueneers” is derived from the “Taino name” for the island of Puerto Rico which was Borinquen. A good percentage of the Puerto Rican soldiers who served in the 65th had Taino Native American ancestors.
