Message:   Personally I found that scene with the Kitten to be very touching. Hell, if you think about it To see Grips actually feeling bad about an entire family being slaughtered struck me as reminding him of the real reason He dons the spandex and rips criminal's heads off. Now if we actually got a story as to why HE chose to do it to begin with that is something I would pay money to see.

You can get mad all you want but this is a ridiculous topic.

WHy not go to a thespian forum and inquire as to Michael Dudikoff's influences that inspired his performance in "American Ninja"? Unless youa re prepared to make a case for Kris BEING a writer who paid any attention to other writeers or even took so much as a high school level creative writing course, this is an inane question.

For any writer worth his salt, you will be able to see the influences of other writers in his work. In Frank Miller, you see a lot of Mickey Spillaine and Raymond Chandler type influence. With Stephen King you see everything from E.C. Comics' horror to Harlan Ellison/Twilight Zone/Outer Limits.
What sort of influence do you see in Kris' work?

What notable writer inspired "You're(SIC) gay days are over Lopex! You'll rape no more young boys!". Or what about the entire first four issues of GMC's Edge vol. 2 which is, from first page to last, so chock full of bad writing that it would give the most patient teacher fits of nauseum!
One immediate example is the scene where Edge and Grips finish scrapping and grips starts getting all "Gentle Ben" with the kitten while they wade through teh dead family's blood. A real writer would have used subtlety to tastefully build up to this other facet of character. Not have the character just savaging people for a dozen stories then ahve him pet a kitten while the first person narrator(Edge in this case) gushes on and on about how human the psycho really is.

Are you, J.A.G. familiar with aspects of writing such as subtlety, transition, etc.? Because Kris is NOT. I would think that, as a writer, you would lament such careless disregard for learning the craft before publsihing one's attempts at scripting and novella.

Here's something I don't recall seeing here before. The other night I watched the documentary "Crumb"-about Robert Crumb-and it got me to thinking about what influenced me in my writing career. We writers all after all are influenced by our environment. Which brings me to what I would like to bring up here. What were Kris Silver's influences and why did he take the approach that he did to his work and his publishing endevours. Take it away, folks. Jon
