Speaking as a comics writer with published work I would say it's easy to criticise; harder to do. However bad the comics you dislike may be, the people who have put them out have had the determination and willpower to get them out there and that is how the media in all its fields works. I know - I'm also an active media union committee member representing the interests of writers in the film and television industry in Britain.
If you dislike Kris Silver and these other comics you mention so much, why bother with him or them at all? Write and/or draw your own material and get it published. I have done this with no previous track record, continue to and hope also to get into the film and TV business. Doing the job teaches you a lot about how and why the bad gets into circulation as well as the good.
Alternatively, let me recommend authors like Norman Mailer, Joseph Conrad or Gunter Grass! Best wishes for the season! |
