Hi, this is in reply to BadComicsFan on the GREAT SILVERWOLF CONTROVERSY message strand.
Dear BadComicsFan,
I didn't realise Kris Silver hadn't published since 1989. As for him being controversial, since I hadn't heard of him before and I do have a fair overview of the comics scene, it doesn't sound like there is much to argue about as I've seen on this strand? Clarly you admire his work and champion it eloquently. Taste in any art form is relative. But as I was saying before, the arts are generally defined by how much willpower the artist themselves applies to getting it in front of a patron so as to transfer it to an audience; or doing it him or herself. Kris Silver would appear to have given up on comics as, sadly, so many independents do. My own experience has been very positive with CHIMERA ARTS I'd like to say; although the publisher himself has some real horror stories to tell. Anyone trying to make money in the indie field is apt to be disappointed; but survival is possible. Why not build on what you like in Kris Silver's work and bring out your own comics? Best regards,
A Zombie Pirate who is not Johnny Depp... |
